A journey to help neurological patients in Gaza
I shared their stories with my pen; I want to mend their bodies and souls with my hands.
My family on Substack,
For a long time, a dream lived in my heart. With the help and support of my friends around the world, I have made a decision that seems terrifying yet vital at the same time: I will dedicate myself to studying medicine, with a focus on neurosurgery. The road is long and difficult, but Gaza desperately needs it right now. We have all seen the unimaginable destruction, especially in the health sector, where many medical staff have been assassinated and arrested, and most hospitals have been destroyed.
In Gaza, where every person bears the burden of endless traumas from a blockade lasting more than 17 years and ongoing wars, the latest being this genocide, neurological diseases have tragically spread. Every day, people face new health disasters, and the need for speciali
zed care has been continuously increasing.
My goal is to stand by my people and heal them just as I shared their stories with my pen; I want to mend their bodies and souls with my hands. I want to be part of rebuilding not only our homes but also the spirits that have lost hope.
To achieve this dream, I need your support.
Every paid subscription and every act of support is a lifeline for me. Your generosity will directly cover my study expenses—tuition fees, textbooks, and everything I need for this long journey.
Please, see your subscription as an act of hope, an opportunity to give someone else a new chance to recover and a future without pain.
From the depths of my heart, I thank you for believing in me and this dream. Together, let us build a future with hope, not pain.
With hope,
Donya
